Daniel Kim

Daniel Kim, PhD

Assistant Professor, UC Santa Cruz, Baskin School of Engineering

Dr. Kim's laboratory is developing novel RNA technologies for precision health, cancer early detection, and drug discovery. He leads a multidisciplinary team of researchers and computational biologists to investigate the molecular mechanisms and RNA biomarkers of cancer initiation and progression, using cutting-edge genomic and machine learning approaches. Dr. Kim is also an Associate Member of the Stanford Canary Center, working with researchers and clinicians to translate discoveries into clinical applications for improving patient outcomes. As a Research Scholar of the American Cancer Society, Dr. Kim is investigating the cell-free RNA transcriptome in the blood of cancer patients by developing highly sensitive and specific RNA liquid biopsy technology for multi-cancer early detection and the discovery of novel drug targets for RNA medicine.
